 <note><![CDATA[ABSTRACTrnThis study is entitled “A STUDY OF OTHER’S INITIATED REPAIR IN ENGLISHrnCONVERSATION OF ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS AT SMArnMUHAMMADIYAH KUPANG IN THE SCHOOL YEAR 2012/2013”. This studyrnwas meant to answer the following questions: (1). do the eleventh grade students ofrnSMA Muhammadiyah Kupang apply the other initiated repair in EnglishrnConversation? (2). what are the types of other initiated repair applied by therneleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang in English Conversation?rn(3). what are the frequencies of other initiated repair that occurs in conversationsrnamong the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang? This studyrnaims to achieve the following objectives: (1). to find out whether the eleventhrngrade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang apply other initiated repair inrnEnglish Conversation. (2). to analyze and explain the types of others repair that arernemployed by the eleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang inrnEnglish Conversation. (3). to know the frequencies of others initiated repair thatrnoccurs in the English conversation among the eleventh grade students of SMArnMuhammadiyah Kupang. The method used in this study was DescriptivernQualitative method. The study was conducted in SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang.rnThe participants of the study were ten students from the eleventh grade of SciencernClass who were divided into five pairs. The result of the study shows that (1). therneleventh grade students of SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang made other initiatedrnrepair in their ongoing free conversation. The other initiated repair was made inrnorder to gain mutual understanding and to maintain the flow of conversation. (2).rnthere are two types of other initiated repair; they are lexical repair and messagernclarification repair, the writer found that in the ongoing free conversation betweenrnthe students at SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang, there was only one type of otherrninitiated repair occured, it was Lexical Repair. (3). the frequency of the otherrninitiated repair that occurred in the free conversation between the students at SMArnMuhammadiyah Kupang was 6, and mostly occurred was Hesitated SpeechrnProduction. Based on the result of the study, the writer would like to give somernsuggestions, they are as follow: (1). the students of SMA Muhammadiyah Kupang,rnespecially the eleventh grade students should improve their speaking skill byrnlearning more vocabulary, so in their ongoing free English conversation, they willrnfeel free and can improve and enlarge their topic of speaking. (2) the teachers atrnSMA Muhammadiyah Kupang, should have more speaking practice and improvernhis students vocabulary.]]></note>
